Ok. There was an airshow at Portage La Prairie this past weekend at the air
training base called Southport. I got a "few" pix despite the weather being
really nasty for this time of year. You would expect it to be around +20 C
but it was closer to 10 C and windy. Unfortunately, the ceiling was fairly
low too which limited the aircraft to a low routine. There wasn't much
sunshine either but I got what I got! ENJOY!

Thanks for sharing these pictures. The participants put on a good show
despite the inclement weather.
The summer seems very reluctant to make an appearance here in northern
Ontario as well. I don't think we have had two consecutive nice days since I
returned fron Florida in mid April. We even had a snow flurry a week ago!
Cheers,

Hi! You are welcome. Yes, they did put on a good show and the wind burn was
worth it. :)
It looks like an entire week of rain here. I'm glad I got out for the show
and got a few rays of sunshine and some nice shots. We even had some frost
warnings! Can you believe that? At the beginning of JUNE??? I used to play
tennis in the middle of April!
Take care,
Nick

I was just looking at those photos and thinking that it looked like a
really filthy day. Something I had quite enough of last year (even to
the extent that I was halfway to one show when I heard on the radio that
it had been called off, because the car parks had turned into swamps.)
Still, I liked the pictures, despite the difficulties.
To change the subject slightly - do the Snowbirds ever do overseas displays?

I was surprised to hear the answer was yes. A friend saw them in NC at one
of the bases, recently.

Hi Bob! Thanks! I got a bunch of pictures and picked out my faves to post
here. I doubt that we will get to see the Hornet/Sabre/Snowbirds combo ever
again. (Beyond this year, anyway). I wish the weather was a little better
with a bit more sunlight and fewer clouds/higher ceiling. Oh well. You work
with what you have.
Take care,
Nick

HI Dave! Thanks. I know the Snowbirds have performed in the US but I'm not
aware of any overseas performances (Europe/Asia/Australia/Middle East). I
don't think there is any money in the budget to support them and get the
aircraft all the way over there. I wish the government would just put up the
money and buy the Hawks they have been leasing and paint up a dozen of them
and be done with it. Right now, they are trying to kill the Snowbirds
completely. BLAH!

The local news here said that the Snowbirds and the F-86 are scheduled to do
a show in Sault St. Marie. I was flipping channels, so I missed the part
about when it was supposed to be. It a relatively short drive, so I'll try
to find out the date.

They recently did a show in the Carolinas in the US, according to a friend. I
don't know exactly where or when it was, unfortunately.
